Caregiver Events: Alzheimer's Association

FREE Dementia/Alzheimer's Family Care Consultations

The Alzheimer's Association has received a grant to provide care consultations and resources for families of loved ones suffering with dementia and Alzheimer's disease. Contact Sylvia Brunischolz at 801-265-1944 or sylvia.brunisholz@alz.org to set up an appointment on Thursdays between 9 am and 4 pm at Mountainland Department of Aging & Family Services (Area Agency on Aging) located at 586 E 800 N in Orem. The same day at 11:00 a counselor will be in the office offering a power point educational presentation and answer any questions from caregivers or professionals. Please stop and get acquainted.

SAVE THESE DATES!
I have pasted the text from an e-mail I received for the Alzheimer's Association below.
On January 25, 2012, the Alzheimer’s Association will hold a Lobby Day at the Utah State Capitol to encourage passage of legislation on Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias!
Your attendance is vitally needed!
We are excited to have the Rotunda scheduled during the first week of the 2012 legislative session – it is our best moment to make our cumulative voices heard!  This is our power play.  We need 100 advocates present that day.  If not you, who will stand up for this cause?  Please respond to this invitation with your email “reply” RSVP.  Here are the details…

KEY ADVOCATES
Wednesday, January 25, 11 a.m. in the Capitol Rotunda, for 1 hour, the Lt Governor, legislators, persons with dementia and caregivers are among those invited to speak.  This is a major media event.  That very hour, your most significant contribution to the cause will be your presence.  This support by you will impact on the media and legislature – and raise awareness of a new Utah State Plan for Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias!  We need you there as a KEY ADVOCATE.  Please RSVP today!

PREMIER ADVOCATES
If your schedule permits, please join for an expanded period of time on the 25th, from 9 a.m. to noon, join a training workshop on advocacy, and we will also schedule appointments for you to spend a few minutes, one-on-one, with your state legislators prior to or just after the media event in the Rotunda.  Would you like to learn how to advocate and work with the legislature – and talk personally to your representatives?  Here is a great opportunity for you at a time of growing momentum in support of our cause.  We need as many present as possible to speak personally with legislators on the 25th.  We need you there as a PREMIER ADVOCATE!  Please RSVP today and include your resident address and we will confirm your state legislators and schedule your appointments.

YOUR NEXT STEP
For now, all you need to do is click an email “reply” RSVP for the 25th of January and indicate if you can be there from 9 a.m. to noon (PREMIER ADVOCATE) or from 11 a.m. to noon (KEY ADVOCATE).  You will then receive information and materials prior to the 25th and be invited to participate in a pre-Advocacy Day teleconference early in January.
