About

The main purpose of the health and the aging process and gerontology blog is to inform current and potential gerontology students about opportunities working with seniors available in the community. The blog offers information about the different services (assisted living, hospice, caregivers, home care, etc.) that provide care for seniors. Students can then easily contact these services to volunteer, intern, or find a career.

BYU offers an awesome internship opportunity, The Huntsman World Senior Games! Every October BYU takes students to St. George to perform medical screenings for the senior athletes. Come be a part of this great experience!

Additionally the blog offers information about requirements for the gerontology minor. This includes classes, number of credits, and hours required for internships. BYU and the community also hold a number of events to educate about gerontology and the services available for seniors. Take advantage!

The blog also shows the fun learning activities we do in HLTH 466 such as experiencing functional disabilities (stroke, deafness, etc.) and gives class ideas for in/out projects.

If you have worked with a particular group or company, feel free to share your experience through comments! We would love to hear your advice!!
