The center invites those 55 years and older to participate in social experiences, physical fitness programs, educational opportunities, art, games, and health screenings. The center offers a safe place for seniors to connect with people in the community and live a higher quality of life.
Duties
- Senior program planning and organizing in the Parks and Recreation Department of Provo City
- Assist facility staff with Senior Services for the City of Provo
- Prepare promotional advertising for programs and events
- Manage Senior Center office and disseminate information to seniors
- Operate within the guidelines of budgets
- Ensure adherence to operational polices and procedures
- Prepare and maintain reports, records, and equipment inventory
- Assist other staff members and the public as needed
Qualifications
- Knowledge of senior issues, trends, programs, event planning, senior services
- Basic English composition, spelling, and grammar
- Skill in performing duties in a manner that demonstrates respect, integrity, courtesy, and kindness towards fellow workers, customers, and the general public
- Ability to organize special events and senior activities
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with employees
- Complete accurate records
- Enforce rules and regulations firmly but with tact; and demonstrate good judgment in decision making
Time Commitment
- Hours flexible between 5 - 30 hours week
- Ability to work independently
- Must work between Monday and Friday
- Work mandatory event days - some events fall on weekends and evenings
